How It Started

During my years of boating, one of the most frustrating things to deal with was always trying to figure out how to secure my boat fenders without using up valuable cleat space. And it seemed the entire aftermarket product simply didn’t work as promised, or had crucial flaws. Then several years ago, while fishing with a buddy, he asked me to put out the fenders. Reaching for them, I noticed the line was tied to a 12” long sawed off broom handle with an eye bolt in the end. He said to just drop them into the rod holders. WOW! What a unique idea, AND IT WORKED!!!

Soon, I made several of my own, and had fellow boaters comment on them, and they in turn made their own. Then one night over cocktails, I told my wife, “if I could come up with a better, more finished end product, I think I am on to something”. After months of experimenting with different solutions, materials and trial and error methods I hit on a product that not only was cost efficient, but WORKED GREAT, and LASTED. Soon after, a patent was applied for, granted and we were off and manufacturing.

Just What Are FenderRods?

A unique method of securing fenders on a boat utilizing existing rod holders. Manufactured of 12” x 1” UV protected nylon dowel with an attached 3/8” double braided line fed through a countersunk hole, then creating a loop fastened with commercially stitched polypropylene webbing.
